PIKA'S SPARKLING WINE REVIEWS
A party without bubbles is really just a meeting.
g.h. Mumm Cordon Rouge Brut, Champagne
Sniffing notes:
This champagne offers a great balance of freshness, and depth. (Exactly the traits I’m looking for in a boyfriend, fyi). Sniffs of ripe peaches, vanilla, and I swear I smell bread!
Pawring suggestions:
Pawrs best with fish and white meat, but even if you’re having freeze dried lamb treats - don’t be that fool who said no to champagne.
Louis Roederer Cristal Brut, 2004
Sniffing notes:
Peaches, sparkles, unicorns, with hints of bully stick.
Pawring suggestions:
This Prestige Cuvée was first created for a Russian Tsar. As such, it is best enjoyed decadently…with a paw massage, or in a bathtub. A cute bow is optional.
Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin Brut
Widow (veuve) Cliquot was the first woman to take over a champagne house. She is credited with a great breakthrough in champagne handling that made its mass production possible, and for that, she holds a special place in the wine industry (and in my heart).
Sniffing notes:
Peach, quince, some vanilla. I could sniff it all day long.
Pawring suggestions:
Have it in bed for breakfast, under a blooming magnolia tree for brunch, and with grilled Adriatic shrimp for dinner. (Make sure to save some of that shrimp meat for your pup!)
Mumm Napa Brut Rosé
Mumm Napa is the American version of the famous French Champagne house GH Mumm. US deliciousness with European roots.
Sniffing notes:
Black cherry, hints of strawberry, bubbles tickle my nose.
Pawring suggestions:
Mumm Napa Brut Rosé might just be a perfect wine for first dates. And at this price (under $20), there is no need to feel bad about having a first date every night :-)
Pink Party Rosé
Sniffing notes:
Definitely on the sweeter side (think cantaloupe or candy), this light bubbly rosé is designed for fun parties, where – let’s be fair - nobody really talks about sniffing notes. This bubbly is very instagrammable, and smells like a lot of fun.
Pawring suggestions:
Best pawred with millennial women.
